control the acts of others. However, sharing useful tools to deter threatening situations reduces the risk of impending danger. Cyber Security Organizations today face more increased security threats and building a cybersecurity plan will assist in preparing companies. Known components to include in a cybersecurity plan are to understand the difference between compliance and security. Security refers to the systems and controls an orga nization implements to safeguard its assets. Compliance refers to meeting third-party requirements as best practices and legal standards. Remember to require systems to receive strong passwords, keep company software up to date, ensure your antivirus software is up to date and use public Wi-Fi with caution. In case of a breach, have a systematic procedure in place to restore the damage as quickly and safely as possible. Community Safety Have this as an annual review item. Ensure established policies abide by legal statutes, if proven to be effective, or do they require updating? Consider consulting a professional, such as ButterflyMX. the intercom, which residents can review on their smart phones. Defensive landscaping is a simple measure. Review the existing landscape and get rid of all the hiding places. Remove all tall bushes against the unit windows to ensure burglars are not able to hide behind them. Plant bushes that deter intruders, such as Holly, Cacti, or Rose bushes. Install carbon monoxide detectors alarms connected to the police department, install a timer and leave a light on to deter intruders. Ask a neighbor, friend, or relative to bring packages or mail in while you are away. Discourage hiding spare keys in obvious places. Encourage members to report any suspicious behavior, and if you see something, to say something. Reporting a crime is a relatively easy thing to do. First, the police dispatcher will “walk” you through the complaint. Remember, a five-minute delay in reporting a crime reduces the chance of catching the criminal by 65 percent.
