TECHNOLOGY It’s 2023, and technology is ubiquitous. It’s readily available and utilized in almost every facet of our daily lives. The current equipment available can keep residents more informed, improve community engagement, and increase peace of mind. Many properties/communities are integrating this new equipment/ software into their security measures. ✔ Camera system — Regardless of the property type, it’s never a bad idea to have cameras placed throughout the community at various entrances, checkpoints, common areas, amenities, etc. Not only is a camera a deterrent to potential criminal activity, but it can also be quite helpful for documenting any incident and helps from a liability standpoint. ✔ Access control, keypads, fob systems — From a clubhouse to an amenity space or each homeowner’s unit entrance, most are now equipped with fob access or keyless entry device (which contains a short-range radio transmitter that communicates with the designated point of access). Efficient, effective, and harder to access versus a normal key-lock setup. ✔ Incident Reporting — Through the availability of various platforms, resi dents/management can receive time-stamped reports on specific monitored areas by security staff. Security staff can also supervise areas of concern and monitor those areas at schedule/unscheduled times. These services even pro vide image/video captures of any incidents that may have occurred during those patrols. ✔ Visitor Management — Various security technology platforms that can either be purchased or managed by an outsourced security vendor. These platforms can manage any visitors that are coming into the community or building. Everything from scanning their ID for future use, temporary guest passes, notifying the residents they have a visitor or managing vendor/con tractors on a scheduled timeframe. Managing and tracking these things cer tainly creates a more secure community and peace of mind for the residents and guests.
