For board members and homeowner leaders, it’s critical to ensure that you’re considering objec tive factors and not simply your own preferences in your decision making. Perhaps, as a board member, you believe that the pool is one of the best features of your community, and for some communities, that may be true, however, for those thinking of buy ing a home within your association, opinions may be very different. Even among your current residents, there may only be a small percentage that feel as you do. Remember that only 6.1% of partici pants in the survey said that amenities were the key factor in their home-buy ing decision. Knowing where you should direct attention strategically has a direct effect on how attractive your community is to current owners as well as prospective buyers, who are weighing a variety of choices before making one of their life’s larg est investments.
