CAI-NJ Oct. 2019(w)

LOOKING AHEAD LARRY THOMAS, PCAM | CAI-NJ CHAPTER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

T here is nothing more exciting for me than attending the CAI-NJ Pre-Conference Networking Party and the Annual Conference and Expo. Every year in this issue I encourage all of our Homeowner Leader members to attend. Also, along with attending, I strongly suggest that they invite their committee members, and just as important, their key management team members. I can assure you that if your management team attends, your community will not cease to function and I can also assure you that by them attending the conference, they will bring back invaluable industry knowledge along with creating dozens of key contacts with our exhibiting business partners. All of the major players will be exhibiting and even if you’re not looking to replace a current vendor, when and if the time comes that you need to make a change, you will already have an idea of where to turn. Please consider this year’s theme, “Building a Winning Team with CAI-NJ”. You really can’t build a winning team if you leave your MVPs (management and maintenance staff) at home. This is the perfect opportunity to get your “Team” on the same page and create a “game plan” that will ensure a win for your community. Remember, the event is free to attend. We pro- vide a complimentary breakfast and lunch and you may be the lucky recipient of a $1,000 cash prize or four tickets to the Giants and Cowboys game on November 4th. Under the outstanding leadership of Chair, Jay Burak, Vice Chair, Jessica Kizmann and staff liaison Angela Kavanaugh, this year’s Conference and Expo committee has put together a formidable selection of enlightening and timely subjects with several sought-after industry experts.

“This year’s Conference and Expo committee has put together a formidable selection of enlightening and timely subjects with several sought-after industry experts.” Together with board liaisons, Mohammed Salyani and Donna Belkot, every one of the committee’s monthly meet- ings were full of conversations and ideas to make sure you will not be disappointed with this year’s conference. Please refer to pages 22 to 23 for a description of this year’s educational sessions. And make sure that you attend the Legislative Update session at 1:30 pm. There is so much going on in Trenton that makes this a “must attend” session. As you probably know, Angela sold out every booth by the end of May, 5 months prior to the event! This is unheard of to be sold out so soon. I encourage all attend- ees to visit each booth and say “hello,” pick up a business card and feel free to ask any questions that you may have. All of our exhibitors are there to help and make a connec- tion with our homeowner leaders and managers. In closing, please take a look at the full schedule and plan your day to best take advantage of the many features of this year’s Annual Conference and Expo. Everyone involved, including all of our committees and staff members, have worked tirelessly to present to you a top-notch experience. n
