The idea is like misdirection in a magic trick, by playing on emotions, they can distract you from the unusual aspects of their outreach. Some general cyber security best practices also help protect you. Ensuring you use two-factor authentication on your internet-accessible accounts helps stop many attacks on your passwords in their tracks. Using unique, strong passwords for all of your accounts can significantly limit the impact should the worst happen and you are successfully attacked. Finally, ensuring your computer and software are running the latest updates ensures as many attacks as possible are blocked. Awareness of these common scams and how to protect yourself can make all the difference. Scammers are always coming up with new tactics, so staying vigilant and edu cated is crucial.
