The obvious benefit here is that the association won’t pay for any of the services and the CPO will complete everything from start to finish. The second solution is at cost to the association whereby it pays for the hardware and services to be provided. This is the most complex, costly, and risky option for a community to select. Lastly, there are usually a few options in between often labeled as Charging as a Service (CaaS). CaaS programs are a blend of at-cost and no-cost solutions, for which the association most likely will be responsible for the cost and execution of the infrastructure, while the CPO will provide the charging hardware and services. There is usually a fee like a sub scription associated with CaaS programs. We have financially modeled all three options extensively and have determined the clear winner is always the no-cost solution due to its ease of entry and hands-off approach for associations, boards, and community managers. The final thing to consider is whether the association can collect any revenue or profit sharing.
