doing.” Kim found working with multiple boards, due to her managing several communities, as a welcome challenge. One crucial thing that Kim advised was, “managing expec tations and properly managing stress is key.” So, the consistent theme conveyed, more than answers the question of why we do it. We do it because, managers care! They are available, ready, willing and able to assist when and where they can. Managers are that necessary resource for the individual homeowner and the community at large. So, the next time you interact with your commu nity manager, give them a smile and let them know they are doing a good job. My advice to all managers given the number of hats worn daily by a manager: have thick skin, provide a personal touch, develop a sense of humor, become a critical thinker, don’t be afraid to hold a few hands and perfect your BIG, INVITING smile. Not taking things personally will lend to longevity in this position. My last piece of advice… USE YOUR VACATION! n
