The turn of the New Year reminds us that another year is in our rear-view mirror and hints to us on how precious time is. Like many of you it’s also a time for our New Year’s resolutions with fresh ideas for our professional and personal lives with promises to ourselves that this year we’re sticking to them. Have you made your New Year’s resolution yet and are you sticking with it, or has it already fallen by the wayside? My personal resolution came right from the CAI-NJ Annual Retreat. Do you remember my challenge? I advise you to find at least two people this year you’ve never spoken with or haven’t met yet, but you see them at just about every CAI event. Maybe it’s a competitor, or someone whose circle you have never run in. Reach out and get to learn about and know that individual to create new friendships which may lead to new opportunities. We can never make more time in life. So, embrace the challenge, step out of your comfort zone and expand your network of friends. I’m honored and excited to serve as the Chapter’s President for 2023. We had a fantastic turn out for the Annual Retreat & Winter Break Party last month. I had the opportunity to speak with many of the committees and it’s looking like a packed slate of great events this year that we’re all excited about. There will be many educational and networking events for our entire membership, so I encour age everyone to come out and learn something new, while having a good time with our chapter members. If you know someone in one of your communities or a coworker who’s not a member and is curious to learn about CAI, please invite them along to give it a try. In this month’s magazine we’re focusing on ‘Board Basics’, so whether you’re a seasoned veteran or someone just starting out, we’re offering a few articles about the basics of meetings, communications with owners and the community, forming and utilizing committees and choosing your professionals. I look forward to seeing everyone next month at the 2023 CAI-NJ Awards Celebration on Thursday, February 23rd at iPlay in Freehold, New Jersey! n
