grounds, collecting maintenance fees, soliciting bids, processing invoices, inspecting the property, processing requests for service, keeping accurate records, communicating effectively with the residents and volunteers, and participating in continuing education. The goal is to complete all tasks, pro cesses, and functions with the intent of friendliness to support the residents’ comfort. That is what makes a house a home! Fortunately, most managers love the communities they serve and strive to make their community the best. Expressing this sentiment to the com munity and enlisting their help is the definition of success, when everyone shares the same goal and accepts that developing and working towards a consensus is the means to achieve that goal. A home is not simply “where you hang your hat,” but a place where we feel safe, welcome, comfortable, and expect friendliness. And that, my friends is good management! n
