Community Trends - June 2025
PARTICIPATION... from page 32.
Community managers should actively encourage residents to share their talents and passions by leading com mittees or projects. Often, people are more likely to join committees when they can shape their work based on their own ideas. When community managers can identify residents with specific skills or interests, they can encourage them to join or form com mittees around those strengths. For “Giving residents ownership of their projects fosters a sense of pride and commitment.” example, a resident with a passion for sustainability might lead a green ini tiative committee, while someone with event planning expertise might head up social activities. Giving residents ownership of their projects fosters a sense of pride and commitment. Increasing membership and com mittee involvement among residents requires thoughtful planning and con sistent engagement from communi ty managers. By promoting open communication, creating welcoming spaces for involvement, recognizing contributions, and empowering resi dents to take leadership roles, commu nity managers can cultivate a sense of belonging and shared responsibility. With these strategies in place, com munities can thrive, with residents actively participating in shaping the future of their neighborhood. n
