The new team should research the building needs (listen to your residents’ concerns), review service history infor- mation with current vendors (in order to maintain the mechanical systems) and make immediate adjustments where needed (to improve the environment of the community). Preparing and planning are the keys to a successful transition! 6) How can a manger best assist a new vendor when going through these transi- tions? Ryan: Provide as much information as possible and maintain open com- munication throughout the process. A manager’s input and assistance are more important for a successful transi- tion than you may think! In conclusion, it is apparent that successful transitions start with proper planning and making sure that every- one involved are well prepared and competent. Managers should get to know their property and convey that knowledge and the community needs to the new vendor or employee. They should see that those needs are met during that transition and offer transpar- ency to their boards, homeowners and residents. While change is inevitable, the stress which could accompany that change can be managed. Transitions can be best managed with proper communication and effort from all those involved. n
