How Have You or Your Company Adapted Due to the HEALTH CRISIS? Contributions from the CAI-NJ Editorial Committee
This is a challenging time for all of us on so many levels. Our day-to-day routines have been disrupted Nicole Martone, CMCA, AMS, PCAM Associa Community Management Corp., AAMC
and adapting in order to overcome and succeed is one of the biggest challenges. However, it’s not just adapting yourself to the change, but perhaps also helping others along to find a working rhythm again. I have found that being over-communicative to my association to make sure that they know that I’m still here, still accessible, and still working hard for them has been a step in the right direction.

Staying as current as possible on relevant executive orders, municipal directives, and legislative actions, and communicating timely and effectively has had a positive effect to the residents being informed and provided guidance where they may not have had. Most importantly, the use of technology to show involvement has been crucial. I have offered to videoconference with the residents who would have ordinari- ly stopped into the office for business matters and have a daily FaceTime call with my Board President, who had never used FaceTime before. What we are facing has taught me that we are resilient and adaptable and will be able to overcome this challenging time if we’re able to adapt to it together.
“You might be the busiest person I know during this time of quarantine.” Although someone did say this, I would
have to give that title to the health care workers and first responders who are doing an amazing job. Property manag- ers, maintenance staff, custodial staff and other building manag- ers have been deemed essential workers. A couple of the steps we have taken to help ease the disrup- tion for the members of our communities while maintaining the safety at our properties include: • We have negotiated with bank partners a three-month moratorium on loans to protect in event there is prolonged economic impact. DOTB November 2019. Your success is their success. • Our capital projects have come to a sudden stop.
We have stepped up the logged inspections to assure scaffolding is secure, materials have not been disrupted, and the overall all safety of the residents is maintained.
