amount of time and effort both in meetings and in terms of time spent on e-mails and telephone communi- cations. The other board members had to adjust to having their decisions questioned and, quite frankly, to being pushed to make some decisions at all. As my tenure as mediator came to a close, the association was well on its way toward a fully functioning corpo- ration, even if its decision-makers did not always agree on every issue that came before them. Despite sometimes vast differences of opinions within the board and throughout the community, the members recognized that they had the common interest of preserving the integrity of their community for their own benefit and for that of future owners. n
