Technicians now know exactly where there is rodent activity, and at any given time, they can determine the number of active devices on the premises, the location of the trapped animal, and even if the bait needs to be replenished. By leveraging this technology, techni- cians can use their time more efficiently. Instead of spending hours manually checking every trap, especially those in hard-to-reach areas like drop ceilings and crawl spaces, they can focus their efforts on excluding the access points and treating the infestation. With this high-tech technology, the technician has real-time information about not only whether there is an active infestation but also the level of infestation and where the activity is con- centrated. For example, if multiple alerts are received in a particular area of the building, it is a strong indicator that there are hidden access points nearby. Technicians can concentrate on locating and sealing those entry points in those areas with high rodent activity. The second major trend we are seeing is proactive rodent and wildlife prevention. Property managers are increasingly requesting rodent and wildlife “proofing”. They are asking pest and wildlife control companies to perform thorough, detailed inspection of the building’s perimeter from the foun- dation up to the roof, looking for any areas that could cause problems down the road.
