Stinging Insects Having stinging insects around your property is more than an annoy- ance. They are downright danger- ous. According to the National Pest Management Association, these send upwards of a half-million people to the emergency room each and every year. Wasps and hornets are particu- larly dangerous since they can sting a person multiple times. Unfortunately, the building structures around our communities often provide the perfect shelter for stinging insects to build their nests. Pools, ponds and other water and food sources nearby will attract them to an area. Some colonies can contain hun- dreds of insects all of whom may sting the aggressor in defense of the nest. Needless to say, getting rid of stinging insects can be a potentially dangerous job that requires the right training and the right equipment. Leave hive and nest removal left to the professionals. Termites Termites. Just hearing the world can send shivers down the spine of any property manager, and rightfully so. Because of the covert nature of the termite, your best bet to catch an infes- tation early on. Property managers should be on alert for signs of termite activity on their properties.
