• Cleaning routines of porters and janitorial staff will need to be modi- fied so that areas are cleaned more often than prior to March 2020. An understanding of permitted usage and times of high use should dictate schedules for sanitizing. (an exam- ple: during times of high usage: doorknobs, bathrooms and common areas will need to be sanitized) A sense of consideration of others should be stressed. Wearing a mask can protect others – whenever some- one speaks, droplets are vaporized and can travel and land on common area surfaces. Speaking to someone without a mask can possibly expose that person to whatever microbes you are carrying. So, using common sense, having a sense of courtesy towards others, and respecting the sensibilities of others regarding safe distancing are key elements of a senior lifestyle. While different points of view may be expressed, the new guidelines can be viewed as no different from estab- lishing a “NO SMOKING” restriction in common areas. People may smoke only in areas in which they are not infringing on the freedom of others to breathe clean air and are not compro- mising the safety of others who may be damaged by cigarette smoke. The new sanitary and social dis- tancing guidelines are just the same: Protecting the freedom of all so that they are not in jeopardy. Sense and sensibilities are often
