Sometimes we can forget that trees are living organisms, not static objects, and that they require care. Many times, they have a habit of reminding us when we haven’t been diligent with a big bill from our tree care provider. As with most large undertakings, the key is to not only have a plan, but a good plan that is easy to understand and communicate. Armed with a good plan, tree care in managed communities can become a manageable expense that is mostly predictable, without all the stress and hand-wringing that can be associated with this type of work. With a little luck and some dili- gence, the tree assets in a community can become treasures for the residents to enjoy for years to come. n
