GEORGETTE KYRIACOU FWH Engineering Director of Engineering Consulting

G eorgette Kyriacou received less than two weeks’ notice that she would be deploying to Southeast Asia with the United States Air Force supporting Operation Inherent Resolve. She deployed out of New Jersey in mid-February, right before the COVID-19 outbreak altered the normal- cies of businesses across the industry. As an Air Transportation Journeyman, Georgette plans, schedules and processes eligible cargo for air movement. The cargo is labeled and marked, prepared onto a pallet using a forklift, then net- ted, weighed, and inspected for air worthiness. After preparing the cargo for movement, all of the accompanying records and reports must be properly completed, to include any border clearance appli- cation, and/or shippers declarations for hazardous materials. Hazardous materials can run the gamut from blood for humanitarian missions to ammunition for anti-terrorism efforts. After the cargo and paper- work are complete, the cargo is tracked to provide in-transit visibility to ensure it reaches its destination with the deployment arena. The deployment was set for four months, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, return dates and flights are uncertain. Georgette is looking forward to returning to FWH, misses her CAI-NJ Family and can’t wait to be filled in on all that she has missed since she has been gone! n
