The EPA states that two to three days’ worth of dog waste from 100 dogs would con- tribute enough bacteria to temporarily close a “bay, and all watershed areas within 20 miles of it, to swimming and shell fishing.” Since 1991, the EPA has listed dog waste as a “nonpoint source pollutant”, putting it in the same cat- egory as oil, grease, herbicides and insecticides. That dastardly doo doo isn’t just bad for you and me; it also kills the wildlife living in our ponds, streams and lakes.
