• Double-Voting, Corrected Ballots, and other Abnormalities: Multiple ballots received from a single unit, paper ballots submitted without proper authentication, late ballots, and other abnormalities should all be marked as provisional, compiled with relevant notes and records, and flagged for review. As with ballots flagged for review due to bad standing, the election Inspectors are the only authority properly qualified to address provisional ballots. More importantly, reconciling a provisional ballot with the e-voting results may be impossible if the platform cannot back out individual ballots. If your platform lacks that function, then election meet ing notices should be emphatically clear that members using the e-voting service will not be able to change or correct their vote in case of an error or a change of heart. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Help prevent your community from becoming the cautionary tale that starts the next round of election lawsuits and regulations. Read your governing documents, flag these issues, and resolve them proactively, or risk having to defend them later under attack by politically motivated malcontents. n
